In August of 2011, I traveled with my wife Beth Forrestel and her assistant Arjun Potter to photograph their late-season field work along Beth's North American grassland transect. While we were primarily stationed near Manhattan, KS., at the Konza Prairie Long-Term Ecological Research station, we followed the summer rain into the field to measure the resultant composition of dominant grass species as well as a variety of site characteristics at points along a precipitation gradient. I was able to join Beth for nine of her ten sites.
